I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I am very careful when I hack out but there have been so many times that a driver has come past too quick and ignore any signals and my horse has freaked out, plus many believe they are just horses so theres no need to punish these drivers which i think is awful.
keep going with the good work.

I am so sorry to hear about your beautiful Holly. I have ordered some of your car stickers and look forward to receiving them. You are completely right, drivers do need to be educated on driving around horses. I wrote a letter to my local paper about a year ago asking drivers to take more care around horses, how much do they really value their cars when they drive fast and close to a horse with two back legs? The letter did get a good response and I am hoping it has opened the eyes of some drivers. I would really recommend others contact their local papers.

im so sorry to hear about ur horse. but ppl don't understand how a horse is going to react, i had a lorry come past me today with the sides flapping open this spooked and she reared up and put her foot through the reins and martingale and snapped the rein leaving me on my horse with one rein, luckily i managed to slow down and get off. but no one stopped to see if i was alright and the horse im only 16. i know alot of my freinds ride without reflective on as they think uncool but i would rather be safe!!

at my yard we ride out in small groups, usually with 1 or 2 people on the ground for assistance; however this seems to not slow drivers and on some occasions i have stood in the middle of a small road because cars have pulled right behind the horses and ive put myself between them and shouted. luckily the road is usually quiet but because i have read about beautiful holly, i will be telling my friends to take extra care.
sorry for your loss, RIP holly,
take care

This is an awful story. I know exactly were you are coming from cars go to fast past horses. My friend and her horse were killed right in front of me when a car overtook me whilst out hacking and didn't realise there was another horse in front. We both had flourscent gear and it was good visibilty but it didn't make any difference. Then in the same spot I had accident only 3 months later. A car came passing tooting at my horse which freak him and he throw me off and panic. I ended up with broken arm but he than ran in to a car who luckily did slow down but he still was cover in cuts. But once we had made a full recovery we went straight back out on the road and my horse never minded. Keep out the hard work more has got to be done to stop riders and horses being killed. Good luck

I hope more people hear of this organisation, I have nearly been hit three times whilst on my own horse and I know the fear that speeding creates. I will tell eveyone I know to go out and buy your merchandise and send in donations.

I'm so sorry for your tragic loss and admire your courage and determination. Encouraging high vis is so important, and I still can't understand anyone who doesn't wear it.
A very good point made below re Top Gear. The hamster is Horsey himself so they might well run something.

What a sad story, it has actually brought me to tears. I cant understand why people insist on driving at speed throughcountry lanes and near stables. So sorry for your loss, but well done on setting up this website and highlighting it. It cant be easy but if you even save 1 horse and rider that something. You have my support!

I want to congratulate you on your courage and your determination to not let holly's death be in vain and try and prevent more tragedies like yours. I have a horse myself and he is my soul mate and the thought of anything like this happening to him makes me want to cry. Lets hope more drivers become aware of horses on the road. lets not forget they were there first.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your horse, i cant imagien how trumatic the whole incident was. 2 years ago i was out hacking with a friend when my horse was hit by a 4by4 and trailor, the impact of him falling to the floor cracked off his hip bone! As he got up i feared the worse as he couldn't put his hind leg on the floor, i then had to lead him back to the yard which normally takes 20 minutes which took us over an hour. After 3 months box rest and a further 3 months field rest he is ride-able now but completely car shy! Its a trumatic experience that will stay with me forever and has resulted in that i only hack out on my other horse once every 2 weeks just to give him a break from schooling. I hope the person who hit your horse pays the price as for mine i will never know as he failed to stop and it was classified by the police as a hit and run.

Tracy, I can't imagine what it must have been like for you to go through that and not been able to help Holly, as you said no amount of money will bring Holly back but hopefully they will make that b******d pay, I hope he is made to pay for his irresponsible driving.... some motorists dont care for other road users at all and its disgraceful!

Tracy, Im so very sorry for you. Have you thought of maybe contacting Top Gear or 5th Gear and lobbying them into doing a feature on this subject? I bet if drivers are shown what damage colliding with a horse can do, not just to the horse and rider, but to thier own precious cars, that might slow the b******s down. Drivers might not listen to us, but there is a good chance they will listen to Jeremy Clarkson.
